3 mOnThS?!

omg! today marks the completion of my 3rd month is crescendo! so fast wor! 3 months liao. if i do cut my tour to 6 months (which is quite likely) tt means half my tour in thailand is over!! must make better use of my time here!

didn't do much today. spent most of my time at kino thailand. they are introducing a member card also! 500B (SGD20) for 1 year, 10% on all books. very similar to singapore. was quite tempted to join but decided against it. i must spend 5000B to break even! and how am i going to bring 5000B worth of books home when i EOT?! lolx.

while at kino i picked up this book called the phantom tollbooth by norman juster. its supposedly a children's book but a lot of connotations buried within. loved the way the author made fun of cliches. a lot of corny wordplay in the book! a lot of times i had the *erpz* reaction. will finish the book the next time i go bangkok kino. lolx. (cheapo xia)

left siam paragon at 5.30. only reached sai tai mai at 6.55! major major traffic jam on the streets. was wondering why, until i passed by the grand palace. it was like *omg*! so many protestors in yellow. think thaksin's facing a political crisis or smth. smart move to dissolve the parliment and quickly call for elections in apr 2nd. but i feel tt he's v likely to win due to a strong rural support. the dissident population mainly lies in the city (esp. students). i even saw lots of vulgarities scrawled over paragon's stationary department on the test pads for coloured pens. wanted to take a photo but paiseh :D

time out. have to go back to camp le. might continue to write once i reach camp. :)

bOoKiNg tRaIn

back in bangkok! realised how difficult it is to book a train ticket to ko samui! was at hualumphong (bangkok train station) today with iz and yeo. found out that got so many complications due to the restriction that we can only take the big bus out of camp and reach k town at 1845.. luckily 81 stops outside nakhon pathong's big C and the train station there is only 10 mins away. saved us like half a day of journey cos we can catch the overnight sleeper train to surat thani and reach ko samui at 1030 the nxt day. still the journey there v complicated lei.. need to change transport 6 times to get there wor. think the total travelling time starting from camp is about 16 hours =.= nevertheless its definitely worth the trip :)

bought a thailand lonely planet book from se-ed! decided that im going to go backpacking after i ORD! may take 2 months off and find someone to backpack with. planning to go northwards by train up till china or russia, then fly to london to find hk, then tour a bit of europe (france!!) before coming back to singapore. definitely going to burn a hole in my pocket! but money can always be earned :) and this is the best time to travel! got so much time to kill..

a lvl results coming out soon! 1 mar! all those waiting for results best of luck! made me remeneice about my jc days. the few hours before my results came out was one of the most eagerly awaited moments of my life. seemed like 2 years of my jc life flashed back on that very day. seems like 2 years of NS is going to flash back on my ORD day as well. i must say that up till this point of time NS has been very fulfilling! its taking my mind of full time academic work
which i have been experiencing for the past 12 years straight. and the university workload's going to be worse. so its a good 2 year break (literally; im on holiday rmb?) for the brain :) no complaints!

movie's about to start! gotta go watch the dorm. some thai schoolboy horror movie. looks kinda cool! 100B only lei. singapore got watch movie 4 dollars one? ;)

sHaG aGaIn..

eew. disgusting 2 days in a row. gotta take over 6 armouries. somemore they only came back yesterday evening. like im so sure tt the arms are not going to be cleaned by this morning.. if im finding the arms dirty (like wat happened for the last infantry frame) im so going to kpkb abt it and make them clean all over again. having a good mind to tekan armskote 7 after all the stunts that armskoteman pulled on the poor DOs.. lolx. *grinz* the power of the armourer :) feeling so paiseh to yeo. my packing list got a bit longer than expected. oweing him a big one lolx. totally looking forward to hearing a mei's album! but im like freaking out. got so many things! how am i supposed to carry everything i bought here back?!!? i suppose there's always a way when the time comes. speaking of EOT, seeing my bosses today to request for an earlier EOT. need to settle my overseas uni apps once it opens in july. think spending 6 months here is gd. had a very fulfilling 3 months of my life here so far. to think how many ppl have the chance of spending half a year of their lives abroad. sponsored by SAF somemore. lucky me i guess :D bearing with the next 2 days! after that wooohooooo~! ^sInGz^

gUiDe tO eNjOyInG LiFe

last day of my n4d! back in k town already. went for a manicure and a pedicure at MBK today! so ex.. but the end result was satisfying! my nails never looked so good before. but nxt time just go for the manicure can le. pedicure do le nobody can see anywae :P

when we saw albert he had like 2 kino paper bags filled with books! then his wallet got a SE-ED card. think can get 10% off all books! must borrow from him to buy the thai lonelyplanet book. can save like 100B! never knew tt albert was such a book lover.. these few days must visit his bunk to see if can find any reading material to borrow. seems like he reads lots! apparently he's the one who's inspired me to learn the thai script. i also feel that although learning the script first is much slower and u can't understand what people are saying initially, it definitely helps in understanding signs and expanding the vocabulary would become much easier. so im also taking the same learning route. think after EOT i can go pick up more thai ba.

at night went for another foot massage at river kwai hotel in k town. this time the masseur was much better. nxt time nights off can go to the same place again!

guess tts it. now back to camp and tahan another 4 days before another 2D followed by n5D to ko samui! that's like 8 consecutive days of off days! life's good here hor? looks like im not the mad one when i chose to come.. ;)

im like back in bangkok! had a very enjoyable n4d which i can't really blog about! but i must say tt watersports is very fun! i'm totally looking forward to jet skiing (again) if possible in ko samui! hopefully can upload a photo from my detour later back at the hotel..

a mei's latest album is out! listening to it now.. songs are really good. much more listenable as compared to her previous album. waiting for my dear yeo to bring it here! :)

they were giving away jay chou posters at SF cinema at MBK just now to promote his EP album! i tried to ask for 1 and the host decided that i should sing a jay chou song. =.= so paiseh.. lolx.. but got the poster in the end! finally got smth to hang in my room le!

day offs are like way too fun. can't wait for the ko samui trip. hope my finances won't go into tatters though. hehe. luckily march only got like 7 day offs. pathetic but easy on the pocket..

the lan shop at the corner of MBK is kinda advanced. got like 19 inch LCD screens, 1 dollar (25B) per hour to surf. 1GB DDR RAM. and the internet is quite fast! nxt time i must come back to this place. cheap and good..

omg! on the way here today the bus 81 i was on met with an accident! there was this small pick up that suddenly cut across the lane on the highway, so the bus skidded and braked to avoid the pickup. but in the end the bus still crashed into the pickup and the whole bus smelt of burnt rubber (v heated brake pads). luckily nobody injured.. and the 4 of us were like stuck on the bus for 30 mins before another bus came and picked us up for the remaining of the journey.. =.= hopefully sg ang doesn't get 81 phobia.. he first time taking 81 got such a traumatising experience le. hahax. damn cool though. :)

anyway in bangkok now! N4D. plus my ko samui trip approved by A2 le! so confirm going frm 28 feb till 5 mar. gd thing abt overseas posting is tt i get to tour thailand on my day offs! but bad thing is go back sg must take overseas leave.. lolx. so i don't think im going back until i EOT le. since there isn't anything much to do singapore to justify taking leave to go back :). hopefully ppl can come over to visit me! free bangkok tour guide wor! lolx.

after i finish my 9 mths tour here, go back singapore and wait for ORD :) hopefully by then my uni apps are settled and i will have a better idea as to what i want to do with my life after uni. still undecided as to which uni to apply to, so nxt month i'll make use of the time in camp and GET DOWN TO DO SOME RESEARCH.. lolx. (in caps cos im sanguine and keeps procrastinating). right now im trying wharton and LSE (and NUS) but i'm sure there are many more good schools around worth applying to! and so complicated the process.. need recommendations from teachers somemore. maybe all of them forget me liao? :X

lol. starting to get a bit ranty. going to watch Memiors of a Geisha at MBK at 2330 later. heard tt i got another $100 from the very generous government in recognition of my sacrifices to the country (hey if any government official is reading this i really really mean it and if you can my account number is 385-79009-1.so please see if u can credit some more money into it k?)

rAiN!

wa finally! after 2 plus months of dry season there's finally the first signs of a wet season. been raining for 2 days straight, on and off. unlke the 5 minute drizzle i saw in early dec, this time its much heavier. woke up this morning to a downpour! such gd weather to sleep on.. zzZZ

going to bangkok again on the 16th for 4 days! kinda miss bangkok cos i havent been there since i went back for home leave.. planning to go to an undisclosed location with doctor and gang. hopefully its going to get approved by A2.. :)

played lots of board games last night. apparently RSM was delighted that we are actually making use of the mess resources. the scrabble board was a deluxe wood version tts damn high quality! rediscovered some fun in scrabble whose craze died after i graduated frm primary sch..

love my comforter! no more waking up in shivers and chills! but our air con is nicely faulty! it trips quite often, but usually in th ewee hours in the morning.. so when outside's really cold our air con trips and the room warms up a bit. =.= smart aircon i guess..

nothing much happening in office lately, due to a lack of ppl. :X but not expecting much to happen now tt ppl are back either. no quarterly then no business le. this year's frames are considerably lesser than last year's, and much more spread out. hoping to go back to singapore again for home leave in june! with only 5 days of leave left its going to be hard.. hopefully i can take 5 days in between 2 weekends and go back for 9 days. :)

so bored. going back to office to work le.

just in case anyone was wondering how my bunk looks like, here's a picture of it. as you can see from the picture, there's my bed with a garfield comforter to keep me warm at night when the aircon's at 22 deg (just bought it from lotus as a cny present for myself!), 2 pillows (1 brand new also from lotus), a tissuebox, my dog nippon, a mickey mouse photo album, and a toilet roll with a voodoo doll. beside it is my table with photos, a clock, pencil cup, mug, cookie jar, utensils glass, lamp, mini drawer and laptop. next to it is a small unit with 2 cupboards where i keep lots of food, and on top of the unit there are thai books, magazines, tupperwares of opened food, earphones, my toiletries basket, a water boiler, my trustly office bag and a water bottle. next to it is a small yellow rubbish bin.. guess tt's it and hope it satisfies your voyeuristic tendencies :) heex.

its the 9th day of cNy! had elebrations in camp last night! the atmosphere of spring was there, with firecrackers and a lion dance troop! the lion dance was impressive! imagine a pole 5 storeys high and a man climbing to the top with his bare hands.. dinner was fabulous! haven't had such nice food for a long time le.. then followed by a k session in the mess.. was so much fun!

back to work today. *yawns* ;)
